SCA CIRCULAR 2/2002

FACILITIES AND PRIVILEGES GRANTED TO
SOME TYPES OF SHIPS THAT TRANSIT THE SUEZ CANAL

THE SUEZ CANAL AUTHORITY SHALL GRANT CERTAIN FACILITIES AND PRIVILEGES TO SOME TYPES OF VESSELS THAT TRANSIT THE SUEZ CANAL AS FOLLOWS:

FIRST:
SHIPS THAT CARRY FLOATING UNITS ON DECK OTHER THAN (SEMI SUBMERSIBLE OR HEAVY LIFT), SHALL PAY A SURCHARGE OF 100% OF THE FLOATING UNITS NORMAL SUEZ CANAL GROSS TONNAGE (SCGT) TRANSIT DUES.

VESSELS THAT ARE SUBJECT TO THE DUES LEVIED ON GENERAL CARGO SHIPS SHALL BE EXEMPTED FROM THE SAID SURCHARGE.

SECOND:

1 - CANCELLATION OF CIRCULAR NO.10/95 DATED 1/1/95 WHICH IMPOSED SURCHARGES ON DRY BULK CARRIERS AND LIQUID BULK CARRIERS WHENEVER THEY CARRY EMPTY OR LOADED SACKS, GENERAL CARGO OR CARS OR FLOATING UNITS OTHER THAN THEIR MAIN BULK CARGO.

ACCORDINGLY, THIS TYPE OF VESSELS, IN THE A/M CASES, SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO ANY SURCHARGES.

HOWEVER, WHENEVER ANY FLOATING UNIT IS CARRIED ON DECK OF THESE VESSELS, THE SURCHARGES, APPLICABLE BY VIRTUE OF THE A/M CIRCULAR, THAT RANGE FROM 250% TO 300%, SHALL BE REDUCED TO A SURCHARGE OF 100% OF THE FLOATING UNITíS NORMAL SCGT TRANSIT DUES.

2 - CANCELLATION OF CIRCULAR NO. 11/95 DATED 1/1/96 WHICH IMPOSED SURCHARGES ON BOTH, VEHICLE CARRIERS CARRYING SPARE PARTS, UNASSEMBLED VEHICLES, GENERAL CARGO, OR FLOATING UNITS OTHER THAN THEIR MAIN CARGO, AND LASH SHIPS CARRYING GENERAL CARGO OUTSIDE BARGES OR FLOATING UNITS OTHER THAN THEIR MAIN CARGO OF BARGES.

ACCORDINGLY, THESE TYPES OF VESSELS, IN THE A/M CASES, SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO ANY SURCHARGES.

HOWEVER, WHENEVER ANY FLOATING UNIT IS CARRIED ON DECK, THE SURCHARGES, APPLICABLE BY VIRTUE OF THE A/M CIRCULAR, THAT RANGE FROM 250% TO 300%, SHALL BE REDUCED TO A SURCHARGE OF 100% OF THE FLOATING UNITíS NORMAL SCGT TRANSIT DUES.

3 - CANCELLATION OF CIRCULAR NO. 12/95 DATED 1/1/96 WHICH IMPOSED SURCHARGES ON CONTAINER SHIPS CARRYING UNCONTAINERISED GENERAL CARGO, OR FLOATING UNITS Ė BESIDE THE CONTAINERS.

ACCORDINGLY, SUCH TYPE OF VESSELS, IN SUCH A CASE, SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO ANY SURCHARGES.

HOWEVER, WHENEVER ANY FLOATING UNIT IS CARRIED ON DECK, THE SURCHARGES, APPLICABLE BY VIRTUE OF THE A/M CIRCULAR, THAT RANGE FROM 150%, 250% TO 300%, SHALL BE REDUCED TO A SURCHARGE OF 100% OF THE FLOATING UNITíS NORMAL SCGT TRANSIT DUES.

4 Ė CANCELLATION OF CIRCULAR NO. 4/2001 DATED 31/12/2001

THIRD:
CONTAINER SHIPS ARE TO BE EXEMPTED FROM THE ESCORTING TUG BOAT MENTIONED IN CIRCULAR NO.8/96.

THIS CIRCULAR TAKES EFFECT AS OF JAN. 1, 2002.
